Common Commercial and Industrial Roofing Materials
Commercial and industrial facilities use very similar types of roofing designs, therefore the materials used for building commercial and industrial roofs are very similar, too.
Here are the most common materials used by Pensacola roofing company contractors:
- EPDM - ethylene propylene diene monomer, also known as rubber roofing, is a great choice for any climate area. The material is durable, with a lifespan of around 20 years, it is resistant to extreme weather, lightweight and affordable, too;
- TPO - thermoplastic polyolefin is another affordable option. The material comes in the form of white sheets, therefore it is great for hot climate areas that require reflective materials. The material can be installed using heat-welding, which ensures superior resistance to water damage and leaks;
- SPF - spray polyurethane foam roofs are made from a liquid that turns solid and expands when it comes into contact with air. The solution offers excellent energy-efficiency, durability of around 4 decades and the lightweight, but very strong material can also enhance the building’s structural stability;
- Rolled asphalt roofing – this material is the same as the material used for manufacturing shingles, but it comes in the form of large sheets that are rolled out on the surface of the roof. Rolled asphalt roofs can last for around 10 years and they provide qualities that are similar to the asphalt shingles used on residential buildings.
